August 2010 Commentary
The August weather in Cerne Abbas has been disappointing overall. After warm and dry weather in June and July, the month of August was typified by cloudy conditions, a gradual decrease in temperatures and above average rainfall with the period between the 20th and the 26th being particularly wet.
The lack of sunshine was probably the most disappointing feature though the last two days of the month did produce a sunny and dry end to the bankholiday.
The average temperature for August was 16.6 degrees C., some 2 degrees below the average for the last ten years while the rainfall total of 108 mm. was above average for the fourth August in succession but this came after four relatively dry months from April to July so the Cerne River still isn't flowing very strongly.
